Bharat Tex 2026: India’s Textile Powerhouse Gears Up to Redefine the Global Fabric of Trade

By — Dilip Guha

As global supply chains evolve and sustainability becomes the defining principle of manufacturing, India is ready to present its strongest textile proposition yet. Bharat Tex 2026, scheduled from July 14 to 17 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, is not merely another trade exhibition—it is a strategic statement of India’s ambition to become the world’s preferred destination for textiles, apparel, technical textiles, innovation, and sustainable manufacturing

Organised by the Bharat Tex Trade Federation, a consortium of Textile Export Promotion Councils and leading industry bodies with the support of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the four-day mega event is expected to bring together policymakers, global brands, buyers, investors, manufacturers, innovators, designers, and artisans under one roof, making it one of the largest integrated textile platforms anywhere in the world.

A Vision Woven Around India’s Global Aspirations

At the heart of Bharat Tex lies Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s transformative 5F Vision—Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion, Fashion to Foreign. The concept has evolved from a policy framework into a globally recognised business ecosystem that covers every stage of textile production and creates value across agriculture, manufacturing, exports, innovation, and design.

Bharat Tex 2026 embodies this philosophy by bringing together every segment of the textile value chain on a single platform. From natural and man-made fibres to high-end fashion, home furnishings, technical textiles, textile machinery and advanced manufacturing technologies, the event reflects the scale and diversity that define India’s textile industry today.

A Truly Global Marketplace

The third edition is expected to attract over 7,000 international and domestic buyers, nearly 1.3 lakh trade visitors, showcase more than 20,000 textile products, and occupy an expansive 1.6 million square feet of exhibition space.

Unlike conventional trade fairs, Bharat Tex has positioned itself as a business ecosystem where sourcing, investment, policy discussions, technology transfer and international collaborations happen simultaneously.

The event is expected to host manufacturers, exporters, sourcing consultants, retailers, global brands, fashion houses, institutional buyers, start-ups, investors and technology providers, creating thousands of business-to-business interactions that could significantly boost India’s textile exports.

India Meets the World

One of the defining strengths of Bharat Tex 2026 is its extensive international participation.

More than 350 speakers from over 20 countries are expected to participate in conferences, knowledge sessions and policy dialogues. Experts from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, South Korea, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Egypt, Kenya and Hong Kong will deliberate on subjects ranging from sustainable production and circular economy to digital manufacturing, supply chain resilience and global sourcing trends.

A dedicated International Pavilion has been designed to facilitate structured engagement between Indian manufacturers and overseas buyers, helping forge long-term partnerships across continents.

States Showcase India’s Textile Diversity

For perhaps the first time on such a scale, India’s regional textile strengths will be presented collectively.

Eight States—Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu—have joined as Sponsor States, reflecting strong governmental commitment towards textile-led industrial growth.

Nine additional States and Union Territories—Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Manipur, Rajasthan and West Bengal—will participate as exhibitors, showcasing regional textile clusters, investment opportunities, policy incentives, traditional crafts, manufacturing capabilities and export potential.

This broad participation transforms Bharat Tex into a national showcase where India’s diverse textile geography—from cotton and silk to handlooms and technical textiles—comes alive on one integrated platform.

Celebrating India’s Textile Heritage Alongside Modern Manufacturing

While Bharat Tex looks firmly towards the future, it also celebrates India’s rich textile heritage.

Dedicated sections will spotlight iconic textile clusters such as Tiruppur, Ichalkaranji, Ahmedabad and several other renowned manufacturing centres that have built India’s reputation in global textile markets.

Visitors will experience a seamless blend of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge industrial capabilities, demonstrating how India’s centuries-old textile traditions continue to evolve through innovation, technology and design.

Innovation at the Core

Beyond business, Bharat Tex 2026 is expected to serve as a major platform for technological transformation.

The exhibition will feature more than 1,600 exhibitors representing fibres, yarns, fabrics, garments, fashion, home textiles, technical textiles, machinery, chemicals, dyes and ancillary industries.

Artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, automation, digital printing, sustainable processing, circular textiles and next-generation materials are expected to dominate technology showcases, highlighting how the industry is embracing Industry 4.0 while reducing environmental impact.

Innovation-driven start-ups and technology providers are also expected to present solutions aimed at enhancing productivity, traceability and sustainability across the textile supply chain.

Sustainability Becomes the New Competitive Advantage

With environmental compliance increasingly influencing global sourcing decisions, Bharat Tex places sustainability at the centre of its agenda.

The event aims to showcase India’s growing capabilities in eco-friendly production, recycled fibres, water-efficient processing, renewable energy adoption and circular textile practices.

As international buyers increasingly seek responsible sourcing partners, India’s emphasis on sustainable manufacturing is expected to strengthen its competitiveness in global markets.
