 You Followed the Path Perfectly. So Why Does Something Still Feel Missing?Dearest Parmarth family,Have you ever noticed that sometimes you do everything right – check every box, reached every milestone, risen in the ranks, earned the accolades and promotions – and still felt that success and happiness were an arm’s length away? That there was still an emptiness, a sense of something missing in your life? If so, you are far from alone. In satsang after satsang, all over the world, one question arises more than almost any other: “I’ve done everything right. I have the things I wanted. Why am I not happy?” Here is what I’ve come to understand, and it took me years to see it clearly: most of us are running on a racetrack we never chose. We were placed on it as children — before our minds could even think for themselves — and handed a scoreboard we had no part in creating. Money, grades, titles, approval, popularity, prestige. We run and run, often beautifully, achieving so much. And yet we don’t find what we’re looking for. One of the key reasons for this is that many of us are not running toward success, but actually running away from our internal fear that we are not enough. What would your life look like if you weren’t trying to prove anything to anyone? If you weren’t rushing to a finish line someone else established, on a track you played no part in creating or even deciding to run on? What if instead of that you could actually discover your own truth, your own freedom, your own joy? This video is drawn from the opening talk of a course I offered at the Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas, titled “Redefining Success.” It begins with a short guided meditation to help you arrive fully in the present moment, and then moves into some of the questions I believe matter most — about who we really are beneath all our striving, and what we might actually be here on Earth for.
