  What Can We Actually Give to God? Krishna’s AnswerDearest Parmarth family,Jai Shri Krishna! Friday is the sacred day when Bhagawan Krishna appeared on Earth in form, coming into the darkness of night to bring light, to bring wisdom, to gift us teachings that still guide us thousands of years later. He arrived into jail to teach us freedom! On this beautiful day, so many of us naturally want to give something to Him. We offer our prayers, our sweets, our songs late into the night. But have you ever paused to wonder: what does Krishna Himself actually want from us? What gift does He most long to receive? The beautiful thing is, we don’t have to guess. In the Bhagavad Gita, He tells us with such clarity. And His answer may surprise you, because it isn’t only about sitting in prayer or retreating into a cave of meditation. It’s not about building temples for Him or adorning His form in gold and diamonds. His very first and most essential teaching is to stand up. To do our duty. To fulfill our dharma, not as something separate from our spiritual life, but as our spiritual practice. “Remember Me, and fight the war,” He tells Arjuna. Stay immersed in God-consciousness and stand up and act. Not fearlessly in a reckless way, but fearless the way a child is fearless in the arms of their mother, knowing we are held in the hands of the Divine. He calls upon us to stand up and show up, to offer what we have in service, as instruments in the hands of the Divine, not worrying about the result of our actions. This moment in time is to act. But to act with love, compassion, equanimity, forgiveness, as a friend to all. Krishna tells us clearly that those who live like this are the most dear to Him. In a world facing so much division, violence, environmental destruction, and polarization, so many of us are simply trying to stay in as much peace as we can until it all passes. But Krishna reminds us: we don’t get to sit this one out. We don’t get to avoid the war. We stand up, we serve, we act—through devotion (bhakti), through wisdom (gyan), and through action (karma), while releasing our attachment to the outcome. We plant the seeds and water them, but what blossoms was never in our hands.
